1991 Port Elgin Pumpkinfest Coordinator
Pumpkinfest was growing by leaps and bounds and it was time to take our advertising to the next level. We began pursuing larger corporations. Canadian Living Magazine came on board and sent Elizabeth Baird and a crew to cover Pumpkinfest. Elizabeth Baird was the food editor for the Canadian Living magazine. She helped with the judging of the local baking contest. She promoted Canadian Livings then latest cookbook at the local book store and signed many autographs The local media was also there for the duration. Volunteers worked tirelessly to make the weekend a success. Local merchants donated prizes and decorated their stores to make the entire downtown look festive. The following October Pumpkinfest and Port Elgin received great coverage from the magazine. The pictures and articles showed hundreds of volunteers working together. The article promoted the Pumpkin Weigh-Off for which Port Elgin is famous.
